Christiane Rajewsky-Award
The Christiane Rajewsky Award (CRP) honours young researchers who have made an outstanding contribution to peace and conflict research with their master’s thesis or dissertation. The award has been presented by the Association for Peace and Conflict Research (AFK) since 1993 and was given its current name in 1996 in memory of the late peace researcher Christiane Rajewsky. She was a professor of political science at the Department of Social Sciences at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences and was particularly committed to promoting young academics. Since 2015, the prize has totalled 2,500 euros thanks to an increased endowment from the family of the award’s namesake.
Annual call and application
The CRP is awarded annually and is aimed at master’s theses and dissertations from the current or previous calendar year, written in German or English. The closing date for the 2026 prize is 31 Ocotber 2025. Applications must be submitted using the submission form below, together with the academic thesis, a CV and a letter of motivation. The cover letter should reflect the framework conditions of the work, special challenges and social commitment. If parts of the dissertation were co-authored, the own contribution must be presented. The prize money is 1,250 euros each for a Master’s thesis and a dissertation. The winners will also receive a one-year free membership in the AFK. The award ceremony will take place in March 2026 as part of the AFK Annual Colloquium in Leipzig, to which the award winners are cordially invited.
