Working groups

The working groups (AKs) of the German Association for Peace and Conflict Research (AFK) are the centrepiece of the thematic work within our network. They offer members and interested parties the opportunity to exchange ideas on specific topics in peace and conflict research, develop joint projects and explore current academic and socio-political issues in greater depth. The working groups are made up of academics from various disciplines as well as practitioners from peace work, students and young academics. The aim of the working groups is to build bridges between theory and practice, promote interdisciplinary perspectives and further develop innovative approaches in research and practice. Working groups meet regularly, often as part of the AFK Colloquium and at independent workshops or digital events. They are open forums: Interested parties are always welcome to get involved, develop new ideas and actively participate in discussions and projects. In addition to content-related work, the working groups also support the AFK in its networking function: they create platforms for cooperation, contribute to the visibility of peace and conflict research in the public sphere and promote exchange between academia and practice.
